Outline the project and objectives
Begin design & development
Beta Test
Release final product
Monitor/Follow up
Now lets break those down.
Outline the project and objectives - Create a clear set of MoSCoW. Must haves, Should haves, Could haves, and Will not haves. By establishing these right of the bat, you’ll get a good sense for the website. Also during the outline phase try create strict deadlines and deliverables to prevent scope creep.
Begin Design & Development - What will the website look like? What functionality will it have? Who will be the users? Gather this info, then create a protype to avoid miscommunication and unmet expectations by a client or by yourself. Now it’s time for rubber to hit the road and start the HTML, CSS, and Javascript.
Beta Test - Development should be done, and double check for any bugs, and page content, and user experience. Make sure the website looks great on different devices.
Release Final Product - Handover the keys and let your client or you enjoy the hard work you put in to create it!
Monitor / Follow up - If the website was for a client always follow up and periodically check in, its bad business to give somebody something and hope the best. They’ll appreciate your concern and help.
